It's been over a week since I decided to stop using social media. Actually I was feeling better lately, however, I had some difficulties since then which proves our need of social media is greater than ever.
For instance, I'm working on a school project and one of my team member created group on facebook. I was like hey bruh I stopped using that thing, can we use dropbox or something? and they were like noooo, cuz this is the easiest and fastest bla bla bla.
And also the other day, I had to send some web links to my brother. I didn't want to copy whole link on my phone by hand typing, or ask his e-mail and send it. It just felt a lots of senseless steps.
So I decided to play smart. If you read my article about negative effects of using social media, you have an idea about addiction and its prevention which is keeping the balance, setting a limit etc,. Thus, I'm going to step back from my first decision, but I will take another step, which is setting limits.
Here are few changes that I've noticed during Social Media free week.
1. I instantly stopped checking my phone every five minutes.
2. I stopped checking notifications when I wake up.
3. No more stressful fake news or black mass affection
4. I felt like I'm less lazy cuz there is no reason to postpone things
5. I'm having more time to improve myself in terms of personal development.
6. I started to appreciate real communication with people.
7. When I need to contact with someone, I had to find their number and call them. Which requires a bit more effort but it does worth it.
Here are things I'm going to do in order to keep the changes above.
1. No Social Media apps on my phone.
2. Unfollow or unfriend those who doesn't inspire me/negative people.
3. Use it if only needed.
4. No Instagram
5. No nothing
I wasn't that heavily addicted person on social medias, but I was addicted on it somehow. By that, I mean whenever I had some free time, I just grab my phone and open Facebook app first, and then Instagram, and so on.
I'm well aware the fact that these are major communication tool nowadays, however, I believe everyone should decrease their usage of this kind unless they make money out of it.
ahhh, What can I say? It's good to be back lol.
